On Suffering

A friend turned away from his faith because he saw too much suffering. “If there is a God and if God is good, why the suffering?”

Suffering – or pain – could be physical, emotional or psychological … ranging from minor discomfort, sadness to distress, misery or torment. If you have a choice, would you still choose to be able to feel pain?

Her mom said ‘ I would give anything to have her to be able to feel pain”.

Sickness, diseases and premature death rules over all. Every year, about 7.9 million infants (6% of worldwide births) are born with serious birth defects. With the causes of over 50% of birth defects unknown,

Countless numbers of victims of atrocities committed in war, genocides. murders, the list can go on and on throughout the ages – who can fathom?

Well, that’s physical pain, what can you say about emotional or psychological pain?

I am sure you have watched movies depicting robot or android yearns to be able to feel emotions. Able to love, hate..to feel anger and grief. If you are going through suffering now, no amount of logical reasons or explanation can bring comfort or alleviate your condition.

So, is suffering good or bad? its like asking ” is color good or bad? ” We all abhor suffering, so does God.

Some fall away from faith in the midst of suffering, I choose to cling on to faith, for in there I find hope.

It is not a blind faith that draws from ignorance and illusion that leads to no where but a faith in the unshakable Word of God.
